Police were called to a Brooklyn apartment over a foul odor last night, and they found a bunch of garbage, debris ... and skeletal remains. First, they found a 28-year-old woman who threatened to hurt herself, the New York Daily News reports. But when she was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation, police also spotted the remains, which they suspect belong to the woman's mother. A source tells the newspaper the 61-year-old may have been dead for as long as a year, and sources tell WABC both mother and daughter suffered from psychological problems. The New York Post adds this gross detail: Neighbors had also complained of an "unexplained leak." (More remains stories.)
