World / Malaysia Airlines MH17 Ukraine Rebels: We've Got the Black Boxes Say they'll turn them over to international authorities By Polly Davis Doig, Newser Staff Posted Jul 20, 2014 7:56 AM CDT Copied A woman looks at a refrigerated train loaded with the bodies of victims, in Torez, eastern Ukraine, 9 miles from the crash site of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, Sunday, July 20, 2014. (AP Photo/Vadim Ghirda) Ukrainian rebels say they've recovered Malaysia Airlines Flight 17's black boxes today, and that they'll hand them over to the International Civil Aviation Organization, reports the AP. The key find comes today as pro-Russia militants—who have taken criticism over the handling of victims—loaded the bodies recovered so far on refrigerated train cars in the rebel-held city of Torez. "The bodies will go nowhere until experts arrive," said a rebel spokesman; a team of 12 Malaysian experts is reportedly expected. Meanwhile, John Kerry blasted the investigation today, calling it "grotesque" and "seriously compromised." (More Malaysia Airlines MH17 stories.) Report an error
