Oregon May Ban Smoking Along Coast

Smoking may soon be off limits all along Oregon's coast—more than 360 miles of beaches, reports AP. The state is now taking public comment on the proposed ban, which could punish smokers with a $110 fine. (Though rangers say they'd mostly issue warnings, at least at first.) The idea is to cut down on cigarette butts and make the rules consistent with smoking bans on most state land in the interior. Oregon controls the entire coast under a decades-old law. (No word on whether e-cigs would be restricted, too, as they are in New York City.)
