For $679,000, you can live where one of the great American writers spent his days. The former New Hampshire home of JD Salinger, who died in 2010, is up for sale in Cornish, featuring four bedrooms, five bathrooms, and 12 acres, Bloomberg reports.Salinger moved to the 2,900-square-foot home in the 1950s after writing The Catcher in the Rye and separating from his first wife. "This charming house is set in an enchanting garden of flowers and trees," an online listing reads. "Land on both sides of the road ensures privacy."
Salinger lived in Cornish until his death, though he sold this home to its current owner in the 1980s, reports the Valley News. The couple who bought it did come across some of Salinger's personal items over the years, including checkbooks and even his toilet—which a dealer advertised on eBay as "uncleaned and in its original condition." Interested? You can tour the home here. (In other news, new Salinger books may be on the way.)
