Notre Dame bounced back from a tough loss against Connecticut Wednesday, getting out with a 71-68 win over host Rutgers, reports the AP. It wasn't easy though. With 10 seconds left, the Scarlet Knights missed an easy defensive rebound opportunity on a missed free throw, handing the ball back to Notre Dame instead of having a chance to go down and attempt a potential winning basket.

Tory Jackson nearly had a triple-double for the 18th-ranked Irish with 17 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds, while Kyle McAlarney had 16 points, including the two clinching free throws. Corey Chandler's 25-footer to tie missed badly, dropping Rutgers into last place in the Big East. Notre Dame, at 9-3, improved to only one-half game behind first-place Louisville and Georgetown.
