Blues use power-play to demolish Blackhawks, Preds beat Oilers in thriller

The Montreal Canadiens overcame a five-goal deficit to beat the New York Rangers 6-5 in a shootout. The Habs trailed 5-0 midway through the second period but were able to climb back on the strength of Michael Ryder’s two-goal, one assist performance. Alexei Kovalev also scored a pair for Montreal during the largest comeback in franchise history, reports the Associated Press. Elsewhere in the NHL:

The St. Louis Blues scored three power-play goals en route to a 5-1 rout of the Chicago Blackhawks. Five different players scored for St. Louis.

J.P. Dumont scored a short-handed goal with less than two minutes remaining as the Nashville Predators defeated the Edmonton Oilers 5-4. Dumont also had two assists on the evening.
