If you heard that Emma Watson might be the next celebrity to have nude photos leaked to the public, well, you heard wrong. EmmaYouAreNext.com, the website threatening to release naked pictures to retaliate against Watson for her recent pro-feminism speech, is actually run by Rantic Marketing—and it was all a hoax with the ultimate goal of shutting down 4chan, where the recently leaked celebrity nude pictures first appeared. The website originally featured a clock counting down to midnight Saturday, but as of today, the URL redirects to Rantic's website, where there's an open letter to President Obama, Mashable reports.
"We have been hired by celebrity publicists to bring this disgusting issue to attention," the letter reads. "The recent 4chan celebrity nude leaks in past 2 months have been an invasion of privacy and is also clear indication that the internet NEEDS to be censored. Every Facebook like, share & Twitter mention will count as a social signature—and will be step closer to shutting down www.4chan.org." (More Emma Watson stories.)
