It is happening again: Twin Peaks is rising from the Washington mist and heading to Showtime for a limited nine-episode run in 2016, according to both the Hollywood Reporter and Deadline. The show's original creators, David Lynch and Mark Frost, will reportedly write and produce all nine episodes, with Lynch directing them all, notes Deadline. Kyle MacLachlan, who played the show's oddly endearing Special Agent Dale Cooper, is also rumored to be on board—no word yet on what other original stars might be involved with the project.

Lynch and Frost sent out matching tweets on Friday that simply read: "Dear Twitter Friends: That gum you like is going to come back in style! #damngoodcoffee," with the tweets posted at 11:30am—exactly the time Special Agent Cooper first showed up in the fictional town when the series debuted in 1990, notes Deadline. (MacLachlan just tweeted about golf this weekend, so no help from him.) Deadline adds that the show is said to take place in the present day and will try to wrap up some of the series' unanswered questions. Showtime posted a "special TWIN PEAKS announcement" video today. "The mysterious and special world of Twin Peaks is pulling us back," Lynch and Frost said in a statement. "We’re very excited. May the forest be with you." (More Twin Peaks stories.)
