Politics / Election 2014 Congress May Have Won Some New Stars Some fresh faces, blood headed to Capitol Hill By Polly Davis Doig, Newser Staff Posted Nov 5, 2014 4:39 PM CST Copied Massachusetts 6th Congressional District winner Seth Moulton smiles while thanking supporters at The Salem Waterfront Hotel on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, in Salem, Mass. (AP Photo/The Boston Herald, Patrick Whittemore) More than one vaunted member of Congress had his hat handed to him and his seat swiped last night. But as they get ready to pack it in, some interesting potential stars are heading for Capitol Hill. A look at a few, via the Christian Science Monitor: Seth Moulton, D-Mass.: The Sixth District's newest rep is Harvard educated, a decorated Marine veteran with four tours in Iraq under his belt, serious about VA reform and getting Washington to put its money where American troops are, and could be what the Monitor calls "a bright light" for Democrats in a very red House. Mia Love, R-Utah: She's getting attention as the GOP's first black woman and the first Haitian-American elected to Congress. She plans to join the Congressional Black Caucus and has vowed to "take that thing apart from the inside out." Love also has dinged the Tea Party (it "isn't a party") and wants to make "party lines go away." David Brat, R-Va.: The college professor who rocked the House when he unceremoniously dumped Eric Cantor is a political rookie and perhaps the only "through-and-through tea partyer to emerge on the national stage" this year, says the Monitor. He's refusing to cozy up to John Boehner, and has signaled his fondness for libertarian-leaning Republicans.
