Just eight movies were nominated for Best Picture this morning at the Oscar nominations announcement: American Sniper, Birdman, Boyhood, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Imitation Game, Selma, The Theory of Everything, and Whiplash. Alejandro González Iñárritu's Birdman and Wes Anderson's Grand Budapest Hotel were big winners with nine nominations each, the AP reports, including Best Director and Best Original Screenplay (plus a slew of acting nods for Birdman), followed by The Imitation Game with eight nominations including Best Actor and Best Director. Boyhood and American Sniper saw six nods each. The Academy Awards air live on ABC at 7pm Eastern on Sunday, Feb. 22. Neal Patrick Harris is hosting. (More Oscar nomination stories.)
