Third period flurry pushes Habs past Thrashers, Stars best Blues

Tim Thomas stopped 22 shots to earn his second shutout of the season and led the Boston Bruins to a 4-0 victory over the Ottawa Senators. Zdeno Chara had two of the Boston goals; David Krejci also scored his first NHL goal. Ottawa, who leads the league in scoring, has now been shut out on two consecutive nights, reports the Associated Press. Elsewhere in the NHL:

  • The Montreal Canadiens scored four times in the first ten minutes of the third period to earn a 5-1 victory over Atlanta. Chris Higgins had two goals and an assist. 
  • Dallas scored three times in the third period to earn a 3-1 come-from-behind victory over the St. Louis Blues. Loui Eriksson had two of the goals.
