Iraqi Sajida al-Rishawi will be carried out at dawn," the official said. King Abdullah II, who met today with Secretary of State John Kerry before the video's release, is cutting short a trip to Washington, reports Reuters, though both nations are indicating they're standing together in the coalition against ISIS.
President Obama called the pilot's execution "one more indication of the viciousness and barbarity" of ISIS. "I think it will redouble the vigilance and determination on the part of the global coalition to make sure they are degraded and ultimately defeated," he said in a statement, per the BBC. Abdullah himself is facing blowback over al-Kaseasbeh's death and the country has been wrought by rare protests since the pilot's capture in late December. "This is something that hasn't been seen before" in Jordan, a former army officer tells the BBC. "It's an absolute terror." At the tribal meeting place where al-Kaseasbeh's relatives have kept vigil, the AP reports that an uncle shouted the news, saying, "I received a phone call from the chief of staff saying God bless his soul."
