Just what Massachusetts needs: more snow. Given the amount of the stuff that's already on the ground, the latest accumulation—which marks the third snowstorm in two weeks—could leave piles as high as 80 inches in some areas of the state, the Boston Globe reports. By tomorrow morning, the current storm is expected to leave about 2 feet of new snow. And once residents dig out from that, more snow could arrive later this week, the paper notes. Much of Boston is shutting down, with schools closed today and tomorrow, nonessential city workers given today off, and 70% of flights canceled at Logan Airport.

Also on hold are the trials of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and Aaron Hernandez. Meanwhile, the city is calling on residents and businesses for help clearing out the snow; not shoveling a sidewalk means a $50 fine. "We don't have the ability to get to every single one, so we're really looking for help," says Mayor Martin Walsh. In total, Boston has received 59.7 inches of snow this season, says a meteorologist. But Massachusetts isn't the only state bracing for a storm: Connecticut, Maine, Rhode Island, and Vermont are facing winter storm warnings, as is New York, CNN reports. Upstate New York could receive 8 to 14 inches of snow. (More snowstorm stories.)
