6 Weeks, Eh? NH Cops Issue Warrant for Groundhog

The police department in Merrimack, NH, which has seen perhaps more than its fair share of white stuff this year, has apparently had it with winter: As such, it's issued an arrest warrant for the little prognosticating rodent that sentenced us to six more weeks, via a tongue-in-cheek Facebook post announcing the warrant for Punxsutawney Phil after "several complaints from the public that this little varmint is held up in a hole, warm and toasty." Further, Phil is "armed and dangerous."

"We never put out a wanted poster on an animal before," Denise Roy, the cop behind the post, tells the Christian Science Monitor. "But we already decided his punishment is going to be life in the hole without parole. No bail for Phil." Roy says she wrote the post to give residents grouchy over the snow a target. (Wisconsin's groundhog, meanwhile, actually is dangerous, while New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is dangerous to groundhogs.)
