In honor of Middle Name Appreciation Day on Tuesday, People ran down 10 celebrities with odd middle names:

  • Tina Fey: Stamatina. Her full name is actually Elizabeth Stamatina Fey, and she got "Tina" from her middle name.
  • Elton John: Hercules. He was born Reginald Kenneth Dwight, but renamed himself, and says he picked Hercules as a middle name ... because it was the name of a horse in a British sitcom.
  • Ciara: Princess. Enough said.

  • Uma Thurman: Karuna. It's the Buddhist word for compassion. Thurman continued the interesting middle name tradition by giving her daughter a whole bunch of 'em.
  • Martin Short: Hayter. But no, he's not named after any haters; it's his mom's maiden name.
  • Hugh Grant: Mungo. Actually, his full name is Hugh John Mungo Grant.
  • Adele: Blue. And she almost upstaged Beyonce's kid, because it was very nearly her first name.
