There have long been rumblings that Game of Thrones author George RR Martin must be a Deadhead, thanks to numerous apparent references to the Grateful Dead in his books, and in a recent 92Y interview he acknowledged as much, Business Insider reports. "I'm certainly a fan of the Grateful Dead, I've attended Grateful Dead concerts, and my wife Paris is perhaps even more of a fan of the Grateful Dead," he said in answer to a question about whether the Dead has influenced his work. ("Dire Wolf," for example, is the name of a Dead song.) "I do have Grateful Dead lyrics always ... rattling around in my head," Martin continued. "'Ripple' is one of my favorite songs of all times. 'There is a road, no simple highway.'" (More George RR Martin stories.)
