Nancy Gordeuk's first mistake was accidentally dismissing the attendees of Friday's high school graduation ceremony before the valedictorian had given his speech. Her second, much worse mistake was what she said in an attempt to call them back. "You people are being so rude to not listen to this speech," the frustrated founder of Georgia's TNT Academy said. "It was my fault that we missed it in the program. Look who’s leaving—all the black people." The comment—met with swift uproar in the room and many others walking out—was caught on video and shared on social media, and Gordeuk is taking quite a bit of flak for it, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Gordeuk has since apologized via an email sent to parents, USA Today reports; her son did no such thing—the New York Daily News reports that he posted on Facebook, "Yall n----s aren’t talkin about s--t so if u got somthing to say come see me face to face."

As for his mom, "A terrible mistake on my part of the graduation ceremony on Friday night," she wrote. "The devil was in the house and came out from my mouth. I deeply apologize for my racist comment and hope that forgiveness is in your hearts." She tells WSB-TV she initially got frustrated because as she introduced the valedictorian and he started to give his speech, "a man, he was black, came across carrying his tablet back and forth filming the students in front," and she called security because he was being disruptive. She said that's when people started to walk out. (USA Today reports that she also called the man a "goober" and a "coward.") She had also reportedly made an earlier comment about a crying baby that needed its mouth taped shut. One attendee of the ceremony at the private, nontraditional school notes that graduates had to pay as much as $300 to take part in it. (More racist stories.)
