A joke Josh Duggar made back in 2008 was pretty uncomfortable at the time, but in the wake of the child molestation scandal swirling around him, it's even more uncomfortable. On an episode of 19 Kids and Counting from that year, Duggar was discussing an upcoming date he had with then-fiancee Anna, Us reports. The Duggar kids, of course, are chaperoned on all dates before marriage, and in this case, it was Josh's siblings Jana and John David who went along with the couple. "We thought, why not have a double date?" he says in the clip, and then, laughing: "We are from Arkansas!"

• Speaking of ill-advised-in-retrospect comments, back in 2012, Josh's mom Michelle Duggar—who knew about her son's behavior at the time, Perez Hilton notes—was arguing in front of the City Council against a law that would allow transgender people to use whichever bathroom was associated with their gender identity. "I don't believe the citizens of Fayetteville would want males with past child predator convictions that claim they are female to have a legal right to enter private areas that are reserved for women and girls," she said.
• Also making headlines, Us reports: Four days before the scandal exploded, Anna Duggar shared a picture on Instagram of a quote from megachurch pastor Lon Solomon reading, "The three most beautiful and liberating words in the English language are these: 'I forgive you.'" Anna, of course, released a statement when her husband confessed to his "inexcusable" actions as a teen, recalling, "When my family and I first visited the Duggar home, Josh shared his past teenage mistakes. I was surprised at his openness and humility and at the same time didn't know why he was sharing it. For Josh, he wanted not just me but my parents to know who he really was—even every difficult past mistakes." (It was also recently revealed that police shredded Duggar's file.)
