(Newser) – The case of a vanished teenager appears to have gotten more confusing with the discovery of his body, rather than less so. Quincy Jamar Davis was last seen in 2004 when he was just 14, living with his mother in Virginia Beach. On June 6, however, a Virginia State Police officer pulled over Quincy's mother, Tonya Slaton, in Hampton and found her Ford Mustang wasn't registered in Virginia, reports the Richmond Times Dispatch. While impounding the vehicle, he began inventorying what was inside and noticed a white stain on the floor behind the driver's seat. Slaton, 44, told the officer it was from spilled bleach, USA Today reports. As for her trunk, though Slaton said there were only clothes inside, the officer was greeted with the smell of "rotting flesh."

He uncovered two black trash bags wrapped in duct tape, according to police documents. Officers say Quincy's "decomposing human body" was found inside. Search warrants indicate at least one investigator thinks "the victim's death was likely the result of some homicidal action," per WTVR, though police haven't discussed when or how Quincy might have died; he was never reported missing. "It's incomprehensible that we have nothing else at this point for 11 years," a police rep says. "We really want people to come forward with any information." Slaton, who also has an adult son, previously served time after firing several shots into a man's door in 2007. Slaton, who is due in court today, has been charged with concealment of a dead body, though police say more charges are pending. (Read more death stories.)
