Kenneth Cole has set up a Google alert for his name, and when the designer saw a bummer of a story pop up on said Google alert earlier this month, he decided to take action. The DNAinfo article was about a Brooklyn man who set his $300 Kenneth Cole tote bag down on an Applebee's bar stool while watching the NBA playoffs only to have it, and the $2,300 work computer inside, stolen; the computer was covered by his company's insurance, but the bag—a Christmas gift from his mom—was a goner. When he read about how disappointed the man was to have lost it, Cole tells the site, he found the guy and offered to replace the satchel himself.
"We were hoping to ease this individual's misfortune of having lost his computer...(At the risk of being an accessory after the fact)," the pun-loving designer tells DNAinfo. (More Kenneth Cole stories.)
