Bland's mother today filed a federal wrongful death suit against the Texas Department of Public Safety trooper who arrested her daughter, among others, reports the Houston Chronicle. Geneva Reed-Veal names the department itself; Waller County Sheriff's Office employees Elsa Magnus and Oscar Prudente (both screening officers at the jail Bland was taken to); that office; and Waller County itself as defendants. The 46-page complaint asks for a jury trial and unspecified monetary damages.
