Bad Idea: Trying to Buy Weed, Texting a Cop

We've all sent dumb texts, but it takes a truly epic blend of idiocy and terrible luck to replicate the life and times of one William Lamberson of Port St. Lucie, in why, yes, Florida. According to police, 29-year-old Lamberson was looking to score a little weed, so he texted a dealer he'd met at a 7-Eleven. Only, as fate would have it, he misdialed and instead texted the captain of Martin County Sheriff's Narcotics Unit, reports Mashable, via the department's Facebook page.

When Lamberson wasn't buying the cop's return text that "I don't know you," eventually the cop relented, and set up a drug buy in which Lamberson allegedly agreed to sell him cocaine. This ended poorly for Lamberson, who is now charged with possession of a controlled substance. Concludes the Facebook post: "It’s probably a good time to let Mr. Lamberson know, he had the wrong number." (More text message stories.)
