Hillary Clinton is ignoring calls to fire adviser Geraldine Ferraro after she said Barack Obama is succeeding because of his race, MSNBC reports. "If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position," the former vice presidential nominee said. “He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."
One Obama adviser said Ferraro had “diminished” the hopeful; another added, “She ought to be removed." But so far Clinton is only disagreeing with Ferraro. “It is regrettable that any of our supporters say things that kind of veer off into the personal,” Clinton said. Ferraro, who sits on Clinton’s finance committee, has previously accused the press of being sexist. (More Geraldine Ferraro stories.)
