Like Indiana Jones and the staff of Ra, a "perfect" tribute to men and women of the US armed forces can only be seen at a certain time on a certain day once every year, Q13 reports. That special moment: 11:11am Nov. 11, also known as Veterans Day. The Anthem Veterans Memorial in Anthem, Arizona, is comprised of five large pillars—one for each branch of the military, according to the Anthem website. Every Veterans Day the sun perfectly lines up to pass through holes carved in each of the pillars. This creates a spotlight that illuminates a mosaic of the seal of the United States. The monument was designed by Anthem resident Renee Palmer-Jones and was copyrighted so it can't be reproduced anywhere else, Atlas Obscura reports.
