If you're worried about a nuclear apocalypse and you have $17.5 million burning a hole in your pocket, Harry Norman has the deal of a lifetime for you. The real estate office is advertising a bunker called the "Facility" in Georgia, touting it as "the only hardened and privately owned underground bunker in the United States today," WSB-TV reports. The two-story facility, located around three hours from Savannah, is 45 feet underground and boasts its own power plant, as well as four self-contained apartments and facilities worthy of a luxury hotel, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
The luxury bunker built on a 32-acre property has a large home theater with seating for 15, a commercial-grade kitchen, a recreation area, and conference rooms and can withstand a 20,000-ton nuclear blast, according to the listing, which says it was built in 1969 and renovated in 2012. The listing doesn't say anything about the property's history, and while a real estate agent who toured it last year described it as a "secret communication bunker" built by the US government, a sleuth on Reddit believes it is a "rather large network vault" built by AT&T for civilian purposes. (Rumors of plans for an underground city are just one of the strange tales surrounding Denver's airport.)
