Anonymous Devotes Friday to Mocking ISIS
Ducks = ISIS, apparently.   (Twitter)

Anonymous has a task for everyone on Friday: Troll ISIS, the Daily Dot reports. In a note making its rounds via Anonymous-linked Twitter accounts, the hackers call on readers to do their part on #trollingday on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and "in the real world" to ridicule, mock, and otherwise make it a day the militant group will "never forget." (For the "in the real world" part, a few major cities are listed where open events will apparently be taking place.) They also welcome newbies into the fold, advising, "Do not think you have to be apart [sic] of Anonymous, anyone can do this and does not require any special skills." So what's the point of all this? "They thrive off of fear," the note reads. But "we will show them that we are not afraid (and) will mock them for the idiots they are."

Anonymous even offers tips on how one can troll the terrorists. Suggestions include posting photos of captured or dead ISIS members with #Daesh (ISIS's Arabic name) and #Daeshbags hashtags; seeking out ISIS-related accounts and reporting them; and posting photos of goats with captions that relate to ISIS members' wives. Ryan Mauro, a security analyst for extremism tracking agency Clarion Project tells the Daily Dot that many ISIS adherents have moved off of Twitter, instead preferring to hang out on sites like Ask.FM and Tumblr. But there are still plenty of militant tweeters, and while Mauro doesn't comment on the offensiveness of certain themes already being propagated (e.g., insinuating ISIS members are gay in a negative way), he notes that "mockery and things like that really irritates ISIS, so I kind of like it." (Anonymous went after ISIS after the Paris attacks.)
