His wife was still holding out hope a week after his disappearance, but the search for country singer Craig Strickland has ended with the discovery of his body, reports ABC News. The news came via the Oklahoma State Patrol, though details remained scarce. The 29-year-old went missing on Dec. 27 amid a winter storm in the state—he and friend Chase Morland were duck hunting when their boat overturned on Kaw Lake. Authorities found Morland's body quickly, and People notes that Strickland's wife, Helen, remained optimistic in online posts over the weekend.

"We were unable to locate Craig Strickland today," she wrote on Instagram Sunday while posting a video. "However, we are able to stay positive after conducting an interesting experiment to see if waders actually cause a person to sink. ... From this experiment we can conclude that Craig may have actually floated after the boat was capsized." (More missing person stories.)
