Claiming they can lead to dangerous sex and alcohol abuse, Middlebury College in Vermont has banned the sale of energy drinks on campus, NBC News reports. In addition to encouraging "problematic behavior," drinks such as Red Bull and 5 Hour Energy are bad for students' health, according to the school. "Energy drink consumption facilitates unhealthy work habits such as prolonged periods of sleeplessness, contributing to a campus culture of stress and unsustainable study habits," a flyer in one dining hall reads. Students aren't quite buying it. "They still sell lots of fried food," one senior points out. "You can get the same effect from a double shot of Starbucks," another student says.
