UCLA jumped out to a 16-2 lead on Mississippi Valley State last night and that was the fun part for the Delta Devils, reports the Los Angeles Times. Kevin Love led the top-seeded Bruins with 20 points as they cruised to a 70-29 win in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Bruins blocked 14 shots.

The 29 points were three off the Delta Devils all-time low, set earlier this year in a 71-26 loss to Washington State. All this and the Bruins (32-3) rested ailing starters Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, who has a sore ankle, and Love, who even while scoring his 20 rested his bad back for most of the game. Larry Cox led the Delta Devils (17-16) with eight points. (More NCAA stories.)
