Fifth-seeded Notre Dame got to experience tonight what Pac-10 offenses learned all season--good luck scoring against Washington State. The Cougars held the normally high-octane Irish to 24% shooting in a convincing 61-41 second-round NCAA Tournament win, reports the Associated Press. WSU held Big East Player of the Year Luke Harangody to 10 points. The Irish averaged 80.6 points a game.

Notre Dame (25-8) was held to the fifth worst shooting percentage in a first or second round game in tournament history. Derrick Low led the Cougars (26-8) with 18 points, and Kyle Weaver had 15 for WSU, which hadn't won two games in the same tournament since 1941. The Cougars jumped out to a 17-7 lead and the Irish never threatened. (More NCAA stories.)
