Memphis eked past Mississippi State 77-74 today in what had been expected, and turned out to be, a rough and tumble game. Leading the bumping bodies was the Tigers' Joey Dorsey who had 13 points, 12 rebounds, six blocked shots and altered several others with solid defense, reports AP. Memphis stars Derrick Rose and Chris Douglas-Roberts scored 17 points apiece.

Mississippi State closed it to 76-74 with four seconds left and watched Douglas-Roberts make only one out of two free throws. Jamont Gordon's tying 3-point attempt, however, was well off the mark. Four Bulldogs starters netted double figures, but they got little help from the bench, as their subs were outscored by Memphis' 17-5. Gordon led all scorers with 21 points.
