North Carolina's governor is digging in over the state's controversial "bathroom law." Gov. Pat McCrory said Monday he will go to court to defend the law, which limits protections for LGBT people, reports the AP. The Justice Department ruled last week that the law violated the civil rights of transgender people, and it gave McCrory until Monday to decide whether he would enforce the measure, known as House Bill No. 2.

His response came in the form of a lawsuit filed Monday morning against the Justice Department. It's not a huge surprise, given that the governor had accused the feds of trying to "bully" the state, notes NBC News. The law requires transgender people to use the bathroom corresponding with their biological sex. (More North Carolina stories.)
