Unemployment didn't last long for Corey Lewandowski. The New York Times reports the campaign manager fired Monday by the Trump campaign became CNN's newest political commentator Thursday. Lewandowski gave his first post-Trump in-studio interview to CNN then apparently went straight to a meeting with CNN executives, according to Politico. Trump has a relationship with CNN president Jeff Zucker, whom he once called his "personal booker." Regardless, Trump called CNN the "Clinton News Network" in a tweet immediately after Lewandowski's hiring was announced.

Lewandowski was a controversial figure for the Trump campaign. He was charged with battery for allegedly grabbing a reporter, and insisted she was "delusional" despite video evidence. Those charges were dropped, but his antagonistic relationship with the media continued. In fact, two of CNN's own conservative commentators called on Trump to fire Lewandowski. Trump did exactly that this week after his kids showed doubt Lewandowksi was capable of leading the campaign. After his firing, Lewandowski vowed to continue working to get Trump elected "from outside the campaign." Lewandowski's new position is salaried, and he's only allowed to appear on CNN.
