Megyn Kelly is telling investigators that Fox News head Roger Ailes sexually harassed her during her early years at the network, two sources with knowledge of the investigation tell Gabriel Sherman at New York magazine. Sherman claims Kelly told investigators Ailes "made unwanted sexual advances at her" then described the harassment in detail. The alleged harassment took place about a decade ago when Kelly was a legal correspondent for Fox News' Washington bureau. Ailes gave her her own daytime show in 2010 then promoted her to primetime in 2013.

Despite additional claims of harassment against Ailes, a number of women at Fox News have publicly come to his defense after former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson sued him. Conspicuously, Kelly hasn't been one of them. Variety reports her alleged harassment at the hands of Ailes could explain that. It could also explain why sources say Ailes is being forced out at Fox News. As Sherman puts it, "Fox can't afford to lose her." The contracts for both Kelly and Bill O'Reilly expire in 2017, and with O'Reilly possibly retiring, Kelly is seen by many as the next face of the network. Ailes, who is currently being advised by Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani, reportedly has until Aug. 1 to resign or risk being fired. Meanwhile, his spokesperson is calling Kelly ungrateful and selfish in the press. (More Roger Ailes stories.)
