Police say a man wielding a meat cleaver attacked two officers Thursday evening in New York City. CBS New York reports the incident took place around 5pm local time near Madison Square Garden. The officers were called to the scene over reports of a man with a meat clever. When they arrived, the man allegedly slashed one of the officers in the head. Police shot the man, Mediate reports. The second officer was also injured during the altercation, suffering a graze wound to his back. It's unclear if the wound was caused by the meat cleaver or a bullet. A witness reported hearing multiple gunshots when police opened fire. The suspect and both officers were transported to the hospital. Their conditions weren't immediately clear.
