Well, things are obviously serious: Angelina Jolie has hired crisis manager Judy Smith—the inspiration for "fixer" Olivia Pope on Scandal—to "handle" (get it, Scandal fans?) her divorce from Brad Pitt. "[Judy] is typically a calming non-combative influence," a source tells E!. "Certainly seems like someone to give better advice than what she has been apparently been getting." Another source tells People that Smith is typically able to get "swift and discreet" resolutions to issues that have blown up in the public eye. She's been hired in the past by celebrities including Michael Vick, Paula Deen, and even Monica Lewinsky.
Meanwhile, Brad and Angie are in the throes of settlement negotiations over custody of their children, spousal and child support, and how to divvy up their property, TMZ reports. "Brad is waiting to file a divorce response until the [custody] agreement is in place," a source tells Us. Sources tell E! that Pitt hasn't seen the kids since Jolie filed for divorce, but that Jolie doesn't intend for that custody situation to be permanent, and that she intends to eventually co-parent with Pitt. TMZ notes that the final custody agreement will need to conform to whatever LA's Department of Children and Family Services recommends after completing its investigation into Pitt's alleged plane incident.
