Rap mogul Suge Knight is suing Dr. Dre for allegedly hiring a hit man to kill him—and then hiring another to finish the job after the first assassin failed. Knight was shot seven times at a pre-VMAs party in 2014, and his lawsuit alleges that the shooting was carried out by a man called "T-Money," who had been hired by Dre, TMZ reports. No arrests were ever made in the case. Knight is in jail awaiting a murder trial for fatally running over a man in early 2015, and he alleges that a man injured in the incident was another hit man, who had been paid $300,000 by Dre to kill him. Knight claims Dre was trying to get out of a "lifetime management deal" that required him to give Knight 30% of his earnings.

Knight says the millions he was entitled to includes $300 million from the sale of Dre's headphones business to Apple, which he is also suing. The lawsuit "sets the table for real discussion as to why he would just run people over. If the idea is that he was just a crazy man and ran some people because he's Suge Knight, no, there was a reason," Knight's lawyer, Thaddeus Culpepper, tells Rolling Stone. "Given that Dre has had zero interaction with Suge since leaving Death Row Records in 1996, we hope that Suge's lawyer has lots of malicious prosecution insurance," an attorney for Dre said in a statement. (Knight collapsed in court after the judge set his bail amount.)
