For Mike Huckabee, metaphors are melty mint chip ice cream cones that get his hands all sticky: They might get messy but darn if they aren't a delicious treat. CNN reports the Trump-supporting former governor complimented the Republican nominee Friday by calling him a "car wreck." "Trump may be a car wreck, but at least his car is pointed in right direction. Hillary is a drunk-driver going the wrong way on the freeway," Huckabee tweeted. He then responded to the internet's collective "huh?" by tweeting: "Low IQ media don't get my earlier tweet about car wreck. [Trump] will bend fenders but is a vehicle going right way."

The Washington Post, following Huckabee's metaphor to its logical conclusion, notes that wrong-way drunk driving also tends to end in a car wreck, and "car wrecks are a bad thing, no matter which way the vehicle faces." Jezebel also tried to figure it out: "In this metaphor, then, Hillary Clinton is...a functioning albeit dangerous car? And Trump is a twisted immobile heap of metal? It’s not great!" None of this is out of character for Huckabee. Esquire, which calls him the "Marquis de Sade of tortured analogies," rounds up some of his other adventures in metaphors. Huckabee also notably once positioned Trump as Quint from Jaws and Clinton as the shark, leaving Megyn Kelly to point out that the shark eats Quint. "Any analogy can fall apart, Megyn," Huckabee replied. Indeed it can, Mike. Indeed it can. (More Mike Huckabee stories.)
