Toy Truck Sets Real Truck on Fire

Toys 'R' Us has pulled a ride-on toy truck from shelves days after a couple says it burst into flames while they were bringing it home from the store, reports AP. The couple tells KING-TV that the Tonka Ride-On Dump Truck, which is powered by a 12-volt battery, was a present for their grandson. They were taking it to their Bellingham, Wash., home in the back of their pickup truck Friday night when they say it somehow caught fire. They pulled over, put out the fire, and say it ignited again as they were returning to the store. (The KING link has images of the damaged truck.) Toys 'R' Us spokeswoman Nicole Hayes says the incident appears to be isolated, but the company is pulling the item from stores and its website pending further investigation. Hayes says Toys 'R' Us is working with the truck's manufacturer, Dynacraft, to determine a cause. (More Toys 'R' Us stories.)
