Kellyanne Conway managed to keep her cool Tuesday night on Late Night With Seth Meyers after the host confronted her with explosive new allegations against her boss. The former campaign manager, now Donald Trump's special counselor, told Meyers that claims that Russian intelligence services are holding compromising personal information on Trump are unverified, the Daily Beast reports. "Well, guess what hasn't happened, Seth, nobody has sourced it," Conway said. "They're all unnamed, unspoken sources in the story." She said Trump "has said that he is not aware" of the allegations, though Meyers told her that Trump had apparently been briefed on them, the Hollywood Reporter notes.
A CNN report on the allegations "says that groups that wanted Hillary Clinton to win may have been involved in the investigations themselves. And, most importantly, it says the FBI is trying to confirm it. So, nothing has been confirmed," Conway said, adding: "As an American citizen regardless of political party .... we should be concerned that intelligence officials leak to the press and won't go and tell the president-elect or the president of the United States himself now, Mr. Obama, what the information is." She said the claims, which surfaced soon before her appearance on the show, came from a "Russian investigator." Meyers told her that the source is believed to be a former British intelligence operative considered to be a credible source by US intelligence agencies. (More Kellyanne Conway stories.)
