In the Department of Puns That Write Themselves, Fifty Shades Darker found itself getting dominated this pre-Valentine's Day weekend, reports the AP—by no less than the decidedly more kid-friendly Lego Batman Movie. Jamie Dornan, Dakota Johnson, and their much maligned S&M franchise pulled in $46.8 million, which lagged decidedly behind Lego Batman's $55.6 million, and marked a steep drop-off from Fifty Shades of Grey, which opened in 2015 with $85.2 million. John Wick: Chapter 2, meanwhile, scored $30 million and third place, while Split and Hidden Figures rounded out the top five. (More box office stories.)
