Upside-Down Flag Pin Prompts Concern for Sean Spicer

The US Code for respecting the flag, as quoted by Cornell University Law School, reads: "The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property." This is important because during his press conference Friday, Sean Spicer wore his flag pin upside down, USA Today reports. That prompted one reporter to ask if the press secretary was "under a distress call or something." Of course, there is another possibility: Spicer could have been signaling his devotion to House of Cards. "Your loyalty has not gone unnoticed," tweeted the TV show, which uses an upside-down flag for its logo. After multiple reporters commented on the upside-down pin, Spicer righted the flag.
