The Utah mansion was once home to pedophilia and polygamy. Now, it could host tourists. Brielle Decker, the 65th of Warren Jeffs' 79 wives, fled his Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints five years ago. She now plans to turn the 41-bedroom home the polygamist sect leader once occupied in Hildale, Utah, into a tourist draw and home for other church defectors, reports Reuters. The house and other church assets in Hildale and neighboring Colorado City, Ariz., were seized in 2005, but are now being sold back to former FLDS members. Reuters reports Decker has occupancy of the building while she raises funds for purchase—though the Salt Lake Tribune reports she already owns the $1.2 million property—and has big plans in store.

"Everything would flourish more if this thing was turned into something good," says Decker, 31. "We could do tours upstairs, and the middle floor, where the kitchens and the conference rooms are, could be used for events, a restaurant and a gift shop." The property's 41 bedrooms, including the one Jeffs slept in, could also house former church members, says Decker. But it may be current members who are most at risk of homelessness. As the Tribune reported last month, members are unwilling to cooperate with state plans to allow them to occupy the former FLDS properties for a small monthly fee, believing they belong to God, not the state. "Either they enter into agreements with apostates to their faith, or they lose their home," says the mayor of Colorado City, himself an FLDS member. (Jeffs' brother is on the lam.)
