Tweets that President Trump is under investigation have been greatly exaggerated, the president's own lawyer says. "Let me be clear here," Jay Sekulow tells NBC's Meet the Press. "The president is not and has not been under investigation for obstruction." He went on to clarify: "The tweet from the president was in response to the five anonymous sources purportedly leaking info to the Washington Post," he said. "He's not afraid of the investigation—there is no investigation. There is not an investigation of the President of the United States, period."

Appearing on the same show, Marco Rubio, a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said that his panel's investigation into possible Russian meddling in the election "is going to move forward. We are going to get the full truth out there. I believe this is the best thing that could happen for the president." Trump surrogate Newt Gingrich, meanwhile, acknowledged that the boss' tweets weren't helping. "Trump has a compulsion to counterattack, and he’s very pugnacious," he told ABC’s This Week, via the Hill. "I don’t think it serves him well. I don’t think it helped him." Gingrich has a new book out, Understanding Trump, in which he claims that before launching his candidacy, Trump likened the cost of a presidential campaign to that of a yacht, but "a lot more fun." The Hill has more on that here. (More President Trump stories.)
