Fans of country phenom Abby Nicole are mourning her untimely death after a UTV accident took the life of the rising singer-songwriter. People reports that the 25-year-old Nebraska native, born Abby Uecker, performed over two nights at the Thayer County Fair near the Nebraska-Kansas border with her band over the weekend. According to Norfolk Daily News, local authorities responded to a 911 call early Sunday after Uecker was reported injured in a utility transport vehicle accident near the fairground’s racetrack. Uecker, who was riding in the UTV, was pronounced dead shortly after at a nearby hospital. No details yet on what caused the accident, which authorities are still investigating.

Collaborator and bandmate Chad Barnhill posted a moving tribute to Uecker on Facebook, writing “I Will Always Love You Abby. I promise to celebrate your Life with others. You touched so many lives.” The musician recently recorded her first single, "Cool," and was known throughout Nebraska, where she toured extensively. Her official bio says that Uecker had been performing since age four, and that she went on to study musical theater at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she began singing in a local band. Per the Daily News, Barnhill says Uecker spent her final days doing what she loved best—performing and spending time with her family. “Music is a gift that lasts a lifetime,” he says. “Abby was my most special music gift.” (More car accident stories.)
