President Trump continued to speak out against North Korea Friday, telling reporters Kim Jong Un "will truly regret it and he will regret it fast" if he does in fact attack Guam or even "utters one threat in the form of an overt threat" to the US, its territories, or its allies. The comments came during a meeting at Trump's private golf club in New Jersey during the president's working vacation. He added that the administration is looking "very carefully" at potential actions to take against North Korea in the future, CNN reports. He said his "fire and fury" line earlier in the week actually may not have been tough enough.

He blamed previous administrations for not dealing with North Korea effectively and said his administration "will either be very, very successful quickly or we are going to be very, very successful in a different way, quickly." Meanwhile, the AP reveals that the Trump administration has actually been engaging in "back channel diplomacy" with North Korea for months now; more on that here. And, in news related to the tense US relationship with another country, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Friday that when Trump thanked Vladimir Putin for expelling hundreds of US diplomats from Russia, he "was being sarcastic."
