One person was killed and 19 people injured after a car rammed into two other vehicles and a group of counter-protesters following Saturday's failed white nationalist rally in Virginia, CBS News reports. According to Mediaite, which has graphic video of the incident, a car drove at high speed into two stopped cars, sending them into protesters, in what was "clearly a deliberate act." One witness gave a similar account to the Washington Post, and another witness said the vehicle "appeared to deliberately mow down pedestrians." There were several hundred counter-protesters marching when the car drove into them, the AP reports.

Hospital officials say 19 people were injured and one person was killed in the incident. In addition to counter-protesters, some victims may be Charlottesville residents. The driver has been detained. The incident occurred after authorities declared a state of emergency and shut down Emancipation Park before the start of the "Right to Unite" rally. The morning had seen violent clashes between the white nationalists, neo-Nazis, and Ku Klux Klan members attending the rally and counter-protesters. “We ALL must be united & condemn all that hate stands for," President Trump tweeted following the violence. "There is no place for this kind of violence in America. Lets come together as one!” He later added: "Charlottesville sad!" (More Charlottesville, Va. stories.)
