A tumultuous week for an ex-Fox News host just became tragic. Fox announced Friday it had "agreed to part ways amicably" with Eric Bolling and that it was canceling his show, The Specialists, in the midst of allegations that Bolling sent female co-workers pictures of his genitals in text messages. Now, TMZ reports that Bolling's only child, 19-year-old Eric Chase Bolling, died Friday at the University of Colorado Boulder, where the younger Bolling's Facebook page says he was studying economics. TMZ says "well-placed" Fox News Channel sources tell them Eric Chase killed himself via drug overdose and that he'd been "emotionally upset" and embarrassed over the troubles his father was having.
Eric Bolling tweeted the following message on Saturday afternoon from himself and his wife: "Adrienne and I are devastated by the loss of our beloved son Eric Chase last night. Details still unclear. Thoughts, prayers appreciated." Fox News released a statement to Mediaite, noting: "We are very saddened to hear of the passing of Eric Bolling's son. Eric Chase was a wonderful young man and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Bolling family." Sean Hannity also added his condolences, tweeting, "@ericbolling, to my dear friend, please know we all love you, will be here for you and your family." (More Eric Bolling stories.)
