Hugh Hefner's death certificate from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, obtained by the Blast, reveals his official cause of death: The Playboy founder contracted the blood infection septicemia and a form of E. coli that was "highly resistant to antibiotics," and he ultimately died of cardiac arrest and respiratory failure, People reports. Hef's former girlfriend Barbi Benton recently told People she saw him six months ago and he told her he was "in poor health"; she says he was also suffering from a "fading" memory and limited mobility due to a long-term back condition.
