There are now five living former US presidents for the first time since Ronald Reagan's death in 2004, and they will all gather to help their fellow Americans later this month. Jimmy Carter, George HW Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama will attend a hurricane relief concert at Texas A&M’s Reed Arena on Oct. 21, Today reports. The "Deep from the Heart: The One America Appeal Concert" was announced on the website of the elder Bush's presidential foundation. "Our fellow Americans are facing overwhelming challenges" after this "catastrophic hurricane season," the website said. "The staggering, urgent need is simply beyond the capacity of government alone to address every facet."
The event will feature performers including Alabama, Gatlin Brothers, Lyle Lovett, and Robert Earl Keen. Money raised from ticket sales will be distributed to charities helping hurricane victims in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico, CNN reports. "It's important that those affected by these devastating storms know that, even if the path to recovery feels like a road that goes on forever, we're with them for the long haul," George HW Bush said in a statement. Early last month, the five ex-presidents issued a video appeal to help those affected by flooding in Texas after Hurricane Harvey. (More former presidents stories.)
